About Us

Off Duty Chief, LLC is a Detroit Lakes-based speaking and entertainment business built on service, encouragement, and connection. After serving 25 years with the Detroit Lakes Police Department, including 5 1/2 years as Chief of Police, I now use speaking, music, and storytelling to continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
My wife, Denise, and I have proudly called this area home since 1992, and I’m grateful to represent the community that has meant so much to us.
Through Off Duty Chief, I provide keynote presentations, emcee services, and live musical entertainment for conferences, fundraisers, weddings, retirement celebrations, birthday parties, community events, and organizational gatherings. My signature keynote, “Finding Your Beat, the Rhythm of Life,” blends real-life experience, practical encouragement, humor, and live music to help people build resilience, gratitude, optimism, and a healthier perspective in both life and work.
Whether I’m speaking to a large audience or playing music for a special event, my goal is simple: to encourage people, lift spirits, and create an experience that leaves them better than I found them. Detroit Lakes is home, and I’m proud to continue serving others here and beyond through Off Duty Chief.
