Description
Each year Detroit Lakes with the support of the Women's Relief Corps, and other community groups place wreaths at Veteran's Park, followed by placement at the Detroit Lakes Grand Army of the Republic Park on Washington Avenue and Oak Grove Cemetery. Last year the volunteers added events in White Earth and at the Catholic Cemetery in Detroit Lakes as part of the world-wide ceremonies honoring our veterans. This year the volunteers are also placing a wreath at Crovisier Park at the Boys and Girls Club site that was named after a local soldier, Lyle Crovisier who was lost in Battle During World War II, May 22nd 1943. Each year Detroit Lakes participates in the nationwide tradition called Wreaths across America. It is a way our community can participate in the honoring our Veterans , joining the national effort where thousands of volunteers and corporate sponsors place over 900,000 donated wreaths at nearly 1600 participating location.
