Event Manager

Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center
Job Description
To effectively manage event, rental opportunities and local productions. This position is responsible for managing all facets affecting building rentals (ballroom, conference and other pertinent building rentals/events) from initial inquiry and contracting to event fulfillment and final reporting. This position also oversees local productions and may work with technical needs.

Key duties and tasks:
*Serve as the primary contact and/or liaison in the planning and execution of events (meetings, conferences, weddings, receptions, etc) and/or local productions (Summit Productions, Lakes Area Community Concert Band, Tuesdays in the Park, Shakespeare in the Park, etc)
*Manage rental contracts/billing, facility needs, technology requirements, logistical requirements, customer needs and other issues as related
*Provide basic technical support for events 
*Work with the Marketing Director to create, plan and execute an event marketing plan
*Prepare internal reports as needed for management and assist in setting budgets
*Coordinate artist hospitality needs for all shows
*May assist in or contribute to the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of long-range goals and objectives
*May supervise staff and/or student employees 
*Assist and assume responsibility with additional DLCCC events and programming such as Street Faire at the Lakes, Motion, etc. 
*Develop, submit, maintain and achieve budget for assigned duties
*May need to perform routine facilities maintenance if needed during an event
*Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned 
*Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

The position of Event & Local Productions Manager:
*Reports to the Executive Director 
*Is an "at will" position
*Job functions require hours of sitting, standing, lifting, work on ladders, personnel lifts, typing, and use of a computer
*Workplace can have moderate to high stress levels
*Non-typical office hours will be customary including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays


Desired qualifications:
*Excellent communication skills and exceptional customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
*The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of all aspects of technical theatre, have excellent communication skills, work well in a fast-paced environment, be able to problem solve quickly on the fly and is very organized.
*Attention to detail and follow through
*Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities and ability to handle multiple tasks
*Proficient in Microsoft Office.
*Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments

Salary range:
*Dependent on qualifications

 Full time with partial benefits.
