Minnesota Labor Law Update – Presented by the John Stiffin of the MN Department of Labor and Industry
The presentation will focus on upcoming changes to Minnesota’s labor laws, including, but not limited to, increases in the minimum wage laws, a brief overview of Minnesota’s Apprenticeship program and a review of the Women’s Economic Security Act.

John Stiffin
is a Community Services Representative and Senior Labor Investigator for the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. In his role as Community Services Representative, he is the person responsible for providing outreach for the Department and educating the general public on all aspects of the laws of the Department and services provided by the Department. Mr. Stiffin also partners with other government agencies to ensure the most efficient enforcement of laws for his and partner agencies. In addition to his education and outreach roles, Mr. Stiffin works as a Labor Investigator. As a Labor Investigator, he is responsible for protecting the wage rights of current and former employees by enforcing all of Minnesota’s wage & hour laws, collectively known as the Minnesota Fair Labor Standards Act. These laws include, but are not limited to: minimum wage, overtime, child labor, final pay, Parental Leave, Packinghouse Worker Bill of Rights and personnel file laws.
