Description
Learn to snowshoe clinic
Saturday, February 7 at 9:00 a.m. -- Detroit mountain recreation area
Join us for the FREE event and learn to snowshoe at Detroit Mountain Recreation Area (meet in the yurt adjacent to the Lodge). Did you know that snowshoeing is one of the oldest forms of transportation in human history? Humans have been using snowshoes for over 6,000 years. They are still a great way to get out, get some exercise, go to places you can't go at other times of the year and enjoy our winter scenery.
This free family-friendly event is designed to teach newcomers about snowshoeing and to give them an opportunity to try it out. Free rental snowshoes will be on hand courtesy of Detroit Mountain Recreation Area. We will start off inside talking about equipment, clothing and technique and then follow it up with a group hike around Detroit Mountain's trails. Also, join us at Ice Cracking Lodge at 1:00 p.m. for a longer hike on the beautiful North Country Trail.
