Cancelled - Fireworks
Date and Time
Saturday Jul 4, 2020
Description
For decades, Detroit Lakes has been renowned for our incredible 4th of July fireworks display. Generations have safely enjoyed them from the beach, their back yards, or from their boats. It is arguably the highlight of the summer in this region.
Unfortunately, given the nature of COVID-19 as well as to ensure that we comply with Governor Walz’s current Executive Orders as they pertain to gathering sizes and social distancing, it is necessary for us to suspend the fireworks show for this year.
This decision was extremely difficult and not made lightly; many were involved and consulted to determine the best thing that we could do for our community. Despite many creative ideas and options discussed, we felt the only way we’d be able to absolutely ensure safety would be to ultimately cancel the show.
Next year we celebrate our city’s 150 year anniversary, and promise that the show we’ll deliver in celebration will be one that will be worthy of our community’s sacrifice in 2020, and worthy of such a remarkable milestone.
We appreciate your support, and encourage you to safely enjoy all that Detroit Lakes has to offer for a wealth of fun and amenities this 4th of July.
